On August 11, 1973 DJ Kool Herc threw a party at 1520 Sedgwick Ave in The Bronx and created a culture that changed the world! His masterful art of extending the break of a record with the use of two turntables to keep the people dancing revolutionized playing music at every party forever. This one party employed generations of people from the ghetto to tell their stories of struggle through the art of dance, rhymes, graffiti, and of course DJing. Herc's gift to create such a movement gifted us with entrepreneurship which kept a lot of us out of jail and the grave. DJ Kool Herc I can not thank you enough for pioneering this artform. May your name and legacy live forever.
